WIAW #24: The reset edition

Good morning lovelies, it’s that wonderful time of the week where the posts start early, the veggies come out to play, and the drool covers keyboards across the nation (I can’t be the only one!)

I’m falling into good habits this month by trying my hardest to replace some of my less than stellar eating habits with more sensible options.

Though when my mom brings a tub of GF cookie dough into the house all bets are off…
In all honesty though this studying is doing a number on my ability to control my cravings. I tend to eat when I’m bored (I know it’s a terrible habit) and believe it or not I get VERY bored while studying (also probably not the best habit). So I’ve been trying to hit the reset this week with by upping the fruits and veggies and drinking my weight in water/tea to try and combat the side effects of those terrible snack habits.
Smoothies have made a reappearance for breakfast again this week, appropriate since it’s been in the upper 70’s here still. In the mix is frozen mixed berries, frozen pineapple, #publicbanana ‘s and coconut milk. I blended a big batch and froze it in muffin tins… now I have little “smoothie cubes” I can thaw overnight or blend down with water in the morning.

The classic morning snack of apples and almond butter is back in rotation!
I may have added some cinnamon for extra fall flavor!

Lunches have involved leftovers in some way or another (just another way to up the veggie dosage!)

Hummus topped with cucumber and tomato.
Sweet corn and tomato topped with leftover
roasted mushrooms, onions, and zucchini.
Dinner around here has tasted like fall despite the lingering heat, and I’ve tried to control myself to sensible portions of toppings while indulging in the good (for you) parts.
Butternut squash soup topped with cheesy toast!
Chili topped with even more cheese!
All in all not a bad looking bunch if I do say so myself (and I just did look at that…) cutting down on the cheese would probably help my skin clear up/heal faster but where’s the fun in that 🙂
Now if you’ll excuse me I have to go check up on Jenn and her adorable chickpea… and maybe eat another spoonful of cookie dough…
What’s your guilty pleasure food? What foods do you turn to when you need to make up ground from bad eating habits?

That cucumber + tomato + hummus plate looks FANCY 😀

The butternut squash soup sounds marvelous.

Oh how I wish that cookie dough had been homemade so I could have given it a shot and tried it out on my family. But maybe it's better that I didn't because my parents don't like cookie dough, just me and my brother (what? I know, crazy talk…).

These are all so fabulous food choices. I want all so badly! My guilty food pleasure still is chocolate and pizza. I love making healthy pizza at home but nothing satisfies a deep pizza craving better than a unhealthy one. And christmas cookies are very dangerous for me too. The only thing I can do is not buying the evil stuff and when visiting friends and family being on the three word diet: NO THANK YOU! 😛
